The energetic, incised lines of Helen Frank’s copperplate etchings capture moments in time and infuse her images with a sense of place - namely, New York City. These appealing vignettes reveal her lifetime of experience in and around the great landmarks of the city, where she served for decades as a public school teacher. Her dedication to education (especially the arts) is apparent in her images, as she spotlights culturally influential institutions such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Frank attended such institutions as Yale, the New York School for Social Research, the Tyler School of Fine Arts at Temple University, Cooper Union, and the Art Students League of New York City. Frank has also studied personally with the sculpture Seymour Lipton, the painter Abraham Rattner, and artist George Grosz for drawing and watercolor.
The artist currently resides in northern New Jersey.
