 Downe Burns is largely a self- taught artist. He studied business and art history at Texas Tech University for a brief time before leaving to paint on a regular basis.
Burns’ paintings reflect not only his immense talent but his
passion for painting as well. He says, "I love to paint.
I love mixing the colors and seeing the end result on the canvas.
I like signing my name to a finished piece and being happy with
the way I have interpreted the world around me."
In the early 80’s Downe moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico, where he became enchanted by the natural surroundings of the area. His pieces meld unusual compositions and a unique color sense inspired by these places. Over the last few years, Downe’s work has expanded to include florals and abstracts.
He currently lives in Lubbock, Texas with his wife and three
children.
Downe Burns has done commissioned work for Marlboro, Kodak,
ESPN, and has appeared on the sets of several T.V. shows.
